Been a bit shy on the blog front so far this year as its been so hectic both racing and at home so not had time to sit in front of the PC too much. I have just finished writing the race report for Aberadare Park which was no doubt my favourite meeting of the year so far, have a read was a really good weekend for me. I'm just starting to edit the video's which I'll be posting up soon...

Next stop is the Donnington Park classic festival which is going to be a great weekend although extremely busy... I've got 12 races split between 3 separate classes and 3 different bikes. I'll be racing Nige Collier's Honda 350 K4 in the 350 twins race as an extra ride, with the X7 and the Harris in the usual classes. I'll also be taking the Harris out in the Wheatcroft trophy race which will be much needed extra track time on that particular bike. Some of the races are back to back so its going to be a physically demanding time, but I'm particularly looking forward to jumping back on the K4 as I had a good ride on that at Donnington last season and looking to improve on last years results.

PictureThe new logo for 2014
Right - Lots of people have been asking me about the various dates and races that I have lined up for the season ahead. I've got lots of racing planned for 2014, I'll be running 2 class's with the CRMC on the Harris and on the X7 at every CRMC meeting this year, (except for Snetterton which is unconfirmed for now). I'll also be competing in 4 class's at Aberdare Park in July, which is arguably the best meeting of the year - especially for spectators as your right in amongst the racing. So here are the date's;

  1. Pembrey - April 19th/20th
  2. Lydden Hill - May 17th/18th
  3. Anglesey - June 13th/14th/15th
  4. Brands Hatch - July 5th/6th
  5. Aberdare Park - July 26th/27th
  6. Donnington Park Classic festival - August 8th/9th/10th
  7. Cadwell Park - September 6th/7th

No excuses this season - the dates are all here so if you want to come along please do so! It's nice to have a few spectators there watching / taking photo's etc and its always a good atmosphere to be amongst (being into old bikes obviously helps a bit too). If your not sure on getting tickets give me a call or email and I'll put you in the right direction, or may even have a spare for some meetings. See you there!

PictureX7 with new TZ350G seat - sat on Harris style frame mounting
So bit of an update as I have been slowly chipping away at our pre-season work list as and when I get time....
Been getting the new X7 frame ready, making sure all the brackets and bracing are sorted before it goes off for powder coating - in Black this year. Have fitted a new seat unit to the X7, a TZ350G seat supplied by Spike Livingstone, It looks much better than the older TZ seat from last year. My T20 aluminium tank is currently in Terry Weedy's workshop having the big dent carefully removed, looking forward to getting that back although haven't decided If I am going to run the standard X7 tank next year yet. I've got some more brackets to make up and also some rear sets to machine, but once that's done It'll be build up and Dyno time for the Suzuki before the season gets under way.
As far as the Harris goes, the engine Is all ready to go back together now, spread out neatly on the work bench. The new seat unit is currently at the body shop being painted to match the existing red speed block's design, cant wait to get that back on the bike, get the engine In then she's ready to go for 2014....!

Roll On Pembrey, cant wait!

End of 2013 season.....

PictureNo racing for 6 months!
So the 2013 season comes to a close following the Snetterton 200 meeting... What a depressing thought! Still, we have lots to look forward to for next season and also lots of good positive things to look back on in 2013. A good solid follow up season for me on the X7, which was again a very reliable machine and a good performer too. I thoroughly enjoyed racing against Jerry and Graeme on their X7's and I greatly improved my race pace as the season went on. Got some decisions to make regarding what bikes I'm going to run next year, but with promise of more Aircooled 250's next year I hope to be back out on the X7 in 2014 @ most of the meetings. However the focus for me next year will be getting to grips with the Harris and riding Nige Collier's K4 in the very competitive 350 class...

Bit of a mixed year for Mike really, he has suffered from machine prep and reliability issue's @ various meeting's, but has learnt a lot over the season and intends to get it right from the off next season. The Vic Camp Suzuki has changed hands, so all the energy for Mike over the winter will go into the Yamaha RD250. No big plans for it other than sorting out niggles, getting a proper set-up, some new expansion chambers and probably a Dyno run or two.

I'm going to be busy over the winter in the garage tweaking the Harris and rebuilding the X7 thats for sure, everything will be captured on the development page. I also intend keep up the good fitness stuff I've been really enjoying (got a 10k running race booked or January) and also relax a little after a very busy year racing wise.

I'll be posting some bits and pieces over the winter break so keep and eye out, and looking forward to 2014 already!

PictureDonington Park Classic Motorcycle Festival 2013
So next up on the 2013 calender is the Donington Park Classic Motorcycle Festival. Its a 3 day event and we have got a busy few days in store particularly for Lee who will riding 2 bikes over the weekend. Mike will be taking the (overhauled) Vic Camp TS and Lee will be riding Nige Colliers Honda 350 K4, as well as his normal ride on the 250X7 Suzuki. We are heading up Thursday evening as Qualifying is on the Friday morning with Race 1 on the Friday afternoon. Saturday will be a quieter day with only 1 race scheduled (so that's 2 for Lee) and then Sunday will be the normal 2 race format per class. The weekend's racing is going to be slightly more quick paced than normal as most of Lee's track sessions are back to back! We didn't get to Donington last year so looking forward to having a go on one of the most famous National circuits, and the weekend promises to be an interesting one with all the extra activity of the festival to enjoy as well - let's hope the weather is kinder to us than it was @ Aberdare Park!

CRMC Round 3 - Anglesey Coastal
Round 3 of the CRMC season takes place on 18th-19th May @ Anglesey - we'll be running on the coastal circuit pictured left. Having never been to there before I have been watching some YouTube video's to try and give me a heads up on what to expect. Looks a nice track so really looking forward to seeing how I go on the 250 on a circuit that looks a little more my cup of tea than Darley Moor! Got a couple of bits to sort on the bike over next couple of weeks but cant wait to get there and get racing again....

Snow / extremely cold track temp's = no racing!
Unfortunately due to adverse weather conditions - the CRMC meeting at Brands Hatch was abandoned. As far as S.C.C were concerned it wasn't all bad news - the MSV track day on the friday gave Lee an opportunity to run in his new engine successfully, and also gave Mike the chance to have his first outing on the Vic Camp TS. We took mixed feedback from the track day, as suspicions there may be a gearbox issue with the X7 that Lee will be tracing this week and the TS was limited to 2 sessions after loosing the front sprocket nut out on circuit without carrying a spare. A disappointing weekend but some positives and learnings to take to Darley Moor, and some dyno sessions with the X7 to look forward to over next few weeks!

Close season 2012!

Site under construction and 1st Blog posted - just to get it up and running really and for me to learn how to use
it properly!! Well after a good 1st season I am officially hooked into the classic racing scene. Some decent results on an underpowered machine have built confidence and I have more or less forgotten the crashes at 2012 season start....

Next season - New engine in progress with new programmable ignition, new fairing and paint scheme  being designed, new rear shocks on order and new aluminium tank under construction - will be virtually a new bike!
Keep an eye on the machine spec page as there will be lots of changes over coming months with lots to learn on the way.

Cant wait for 2013........!
